LINGAYEN — National Capital Region won 41 of 60 gold medals in swimming to retain the overall title of the Palarong Pambansa at the Narcisco Ramos Sports and Civic Center.

The Big City amassed a total of 633 points, a big improvement from the 572.66 points it posted last year in Zamboanga City.

Western Visayas came second with 359 points, followed by Region IV-A (Calabarzon), and Central Visayas fourth with 209 points.

WV athletes dominated athletics with 25 gold medals, but were shut out in swimming and dethroned in boys’ secondary volleyball.
